The brief

A period property with sound but tired decoration, extensive filled cracking from historic movement, and owners who could not move out or store furniture off-site.

Our approach

We agreed a room sequence that kept a living room and a bedroom usable at all times. Cracking was raked out, filled and reinforced rather than skimmed over, and the staircase — the hardest area to keep serviceable — was split into two phases so the family always had a safe route.

Outcome

Completed across four weeks with no loss of use of the property and no follow-up cracking reported at the twelve-month check.

Scope of works

  • Crack raking, filling and reinforcement
  • Full preparation to walls and woodwork
  • Six rooms, hallway and staircase
  • Staircase phased for continuous access
  • Daily protection and clean-down
  • Snagging walk-round before invoicing
